Anna Navarro i Figueredo, our ESR3 working with Dr. Katharina Götze at Klinikum rechts der Isar der TU München, Germany has just started her secondment at the lab of Dr. Hind Medyouf at the at Institute for Tumor Biology and Experimental Therapy, Georg-Speyer-Haus, Frankfurt, Germany.

During her secondment, Anna is conducting cutting-edge research on the secretome of mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) in the context of Clonal Hematopoiesis of Indeterminate Potential (CHIP). CHIP refers to genetic mutations in blood stem cells, leading to the expansion of certain cell clones. Anna’s work focuses on identifying key factors within the secretome that contribute to cell-to-cell communication in the human bone marrow microenvironment.

Additionally, she is exploring how these MSCs influence the formation of blood vessels, providing new insights into their role in the bone marrow’s complex cellular landscape. While CHIP itself is not an immediate health threat, it is linked to an increased risk of developing blood cancers and other related disorders.
